This course will discuss the feeding research conducted by Rachel, Hazel, and Heather at ShisaCare Clinic. Recognizing the link between anxiety and eating aversion has presented significant challenges for parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, potentially leading to limitations in dietary choices and nutritional deficiencies. To address these challenges, ShisaCare’s feeding program has employed various practices aimed at reducing anxiety during trials, including but not limited to: Flexibility in treatment settings (virtual and/or in-person). Family involvement (presence at all sessions). Client engagement (food preparation). Use of the Yum Score Rating Sheet.

In 2011, Kat completed a second Master’s degree in Music (Vocal Performance) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is also a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Medical Service Corps in both active duty and reserve capacities from 2014 to 2022. Her clinical background primarily focuses on treating both acute and chronic neurological disorders affecting speech, language, voice, cognition, and swallowing in acute, sub-acute, and private practice settings. Kat is certified in LSVT and trained in LMRVT. She currently resides in Italy.
